Filtec USA Made 2D PVC Label for Machinery

Filtec USA Made 2D PVC Label for Machinery Case Study

Recently, we were asked to come up with a large part for an industrial machine. The client, FILTEC, needed a dramatic logo for a very large machine. We were delighted to assist them with this new challenge.

FlexSystems often works with Industrial Designers. These projects are never the same and cover a wide variety of industries.

Founded in 1958, FILTEC is a leading provider of in-line inspection solutions for the beverage, food, and pharmaceutical industries. With local offices and support in over twenty international territories, FILTEC has served some of the world’s most iconic brands on a global scale for over half a century.

The machine our part would be placed on was the SURETec. It is a full container inspection platform and sunken object detection. This machine detects foreign objects in filled, sealed glass containers at speeds up to 1,200 bottles per minute.

Our part was 19.83 by 5.4 in inches. Because it was going to be placed under the metal and punch through, we were required to meet a higher depth than we normally do with our molding process. We used a local CNC shop to machine a mold for us. The required height was .076 inches.

Our material was biocorn pvc. This is a medical grade pvc that uses a corn ingredient in lieu of phthalates. FlexSystems worked several years with a local compounder to create this eco-friendly resin.

Some of the properties of this material are the following: Prop. 65 compliant, phthalate free, bio-based, REACH compliant, RoHS compliant, and it will pass USP Type VI and cytotoxicity testing. The material is also being used to manufacture human heart catheters in the United States.
